INSTRUCTION
In typographic design, contrast, form, and organization carry out visual navigation and reader interpretation. Understanding these concepts helps create designs that are both beautiful and effective.
Contrast plays a crucial role in typography, directing the reader's attention by highlighting differences.
1. Size comparison:
- Help readers identify the hierarchy of information by using different font sizes to attract attention. Large sizes are usually used for headings or important information, while small sizes are used for body text.
2. Weight comparison:
- Changes in font thickness can create layers visually. Bold type is usually used for emphasis or to direct the reader's attention, while thin type is used for secondary information.
3. Comparison of forms:
Contrast between uppercase and lowercase letters, or between Roman and italics, can be used to emphasize or distinguish between different types of information.
4. Structure comparison:
Contrast between different fonts, such as serif and sans serif, can add variety and interest to a design.
5. Texture contrast:
- Create visual textures by combining different contrasting elements that affect the presentation of text blocks on the page. Texture contrast has different visual effects when viewed up close and at a distance.
6. Color contrast:
- Use color differences to highlight important information. Usually, bright colors are used for emphasis, while darker or neutral colors are used for background or secondary information.
7. Direction comparison:
- Create dynamic effects with vertical, horizontal or diagonal changes of direction to increase visual interest.
FORM
Form refers to the overall look and feel of the elements that make up a typeface and typographic design. It plays a key role in visual impact and first impression. Good formal design can communicate the concept and brand personality, so that the audience can visually resonate.
Organization/Gestalt theory
Gestalt theory emphasizes the principle that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In typography, this means that design is not just a simple combination of individual elements, but an overall visual experience.
1. Law of similarity:
- Visually similar elements are treated as a group. This can be done through similarities in color, shape, or size.
2. The Law of Proximity:
- Elements close to each other are treated as a whole. By adjusting the distance between elements, you can affect their visual association.
3. Law of closure:
- People tend to see incomplete shapes as complete. This can be used to create visual integrity and consistency.
4. Law of Continuity:
- Visually continuous elements are seen as a whole. This can be achieved through the continuity of lines or paths.
5. Law of symmetry:
- Symmetrical elements are seen as a whole, conveying a sense of balance and stability.
6. Simple rules:
- People tend to reduce complex shapes to their simplest form. This helps to create clear and easy to understand visual information in the design.

TASK 2 : KEY ARTWORK & COLLATERAL

Task 2 (A) / Key Artwork

Mind Mapping :

In the context of this task, the key artwork is a word mark/lettering, but is also an artwork. As a word mark/lettering it is used to identify a person but it is also used as an artwork that might adorn a lapel pin/T-shirt/poster (collateral). The key artwork can be disassembled into constituent shapes to form vibrant patterns that continue to maintain and expand its visual identity.

FEEDBACK
WEEK5:
General Feedback :
In this week's feedback, there are several main areas that need to be further strengthened and improved, especially in terms of design keywords and idea exploration.
Specific Feedback :
Identifying keywords is fundamental in the design process and helps us focus on themes and directions.
WEEK6:
General Feedback :This week's feedback focused on ensuring that Mr. Vinod clearly understood our design intent through our final product and color palette in class. It helps to enhance the overall performance and influence of the work.
Specific Feedback :Ensuring word mark readability is directly related to the audience's understanding of the project .
WEEK7:
General Feedback : The task of this lesson is to develop a logo based on my own name and post related cultural and creative products on Instagram. The teacher provided immediate feedback in class. Specific Feedback :Mr. Vinod emphasize the need to include a memorable element in the design, with a focus on creating something unique and creative, rather than simply showing a name or copying someone else's idea.

REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE :
In Task 2(A), my main goal was to refine lexical symbols and explore their generality through a variety of expressions. This process required not only a keen eye for design, but also a deep understanding of the brand's core values to ensure that each symbol accurately conveyed the brand's message. Task 2(B) shifts the focus to practical applications of key artworks, with the goal of designing accessories and curating a visually consistent Instagram profile. This task challenged my ability to present a brand image on a digital platform, requiring a high degree of visual coherence in my designs.

OBSERVATION :

By exploring the many variations of text markup such as black and white, white on black, and palette applications, I learned the importance of maintaining its identity in different contexts. Each variation needs to be carefully considered to ensure it remains clear and appealing across contexts and mediums. In addition, the attention to detail during the design process made me realize that small adjustments to elements can significantly enhance the overall visual and recognizable appearance of a brand. While preparing my Instagram poster, I realized how critical it was to ensure that all nine pages of my profile had visual consistency and a coherent story. Each page not only needs to stand alone to attract attention, it must also form a whole with other pages to tell a complete brand story. This process highlights the importance of color, font, and layout consistency in digital brand transformation. By carefully selecting and arranging these elements, I was able to create a digital brand image that was both beautiful and attractive.

FINDINGS :

Through these two tasks, I learned the critical role of consistency in creating a brand identity. Whether it is different versions of text markup or the design of promotional materials, there is a need to maintain consistency in style and message delivery. This consistency not only helps build the brand image, but also enhances the audience's sense of identity and trust. It makes the brand stand out from the crowd by forming a clear and lasting impression in the audience's mind.

FUTHER READING
1. The importance of cultural background: Design inspiration comes from local culture and landmark buildings, indicating that understanding and integrating local cultural background can enhance the relevance and attractiveness of a brand in brand design.
2. Application of geometric design: The use of geometric letter forms and patterns shows how simple geometric shapes can create unique and visually striking designs. This approach can make the brand image more modern and structured.
3. The power of color: Bright colors not only attract attention, but also convey emotion and cultural context. The color choices influenced by Mexican culture show how color can enhance a brand's personality and emotional resonance.
4. Consistency and diversity: Maintaining visual consistency across different mediums (such as promotional materials, merchandise and digital platforms) while adapting to different application scenarios is the key to successful brand design. This consistency helps build brand identity and trust.
5. Cross-cultural design thinking: By combining different cultural elements such as Mexican culture, the design can not only attract local audiences, but also arouse wider international attention and interest.
6. Conveying the brand story: Design is not only about visual beauty, but also about the story and values of the brand. The design conveys the vitality and cultural connotation of the festival, making it easier for the audience to establish an emotional connection with the brand.

These principles and methods can be applied to other brand design projects to create a brand image that is both creative and culturally profound.
